You all know my Cuban compadre, and host of Colberto Reporto Gigante, Esteban Colbert, for his spicy comentario politico, and of course...the chicas! But I've been thinking that with my pending invasion visit up North, I need to embrace some of Canada's proud Quebecois culture. Therefore, I want to introduce you to Stephane de Colbert, my official French Canadian correspondent, and a proud resident of the subject of our twenty-fourth installment of the CCC's 28-part series, Better Know A- Lberta!

Today's feature is the riding of Edmonton-St. Albert: the fightin' combattants!

St. Albert is the centre of Alberta's French Canadian heritage, largely due to the work of Catholic missionary Father Albert Lacombe. Father Lacombe and his followers did well by our Lord, working to convert the natives, establish churches and religious schools, and institute French as the language of the land. Nearly followed Jesus' word to the letter there, Father...made the heathens righteous, built houses of God, but Français? Quelle êtes-vous, fou?

The riding is also a huge hockey hotbed, breeding such current NHL stars as Mike Comrie, Fernando Pisani, Rene Bourque...and Stephen's own Albertan Black Friend, Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla! Iginla is a star player, great humanitarian, and all-around nice guy...almost enough for me to forgive the fact his mother is from Washington's Mexico. And did you know "Iginla" is Yoruba for "Big Tree?" Know what Colbert means? Gaelic for "huge cojones."

And with this tradition in mind, St. Al is the proud home of NHL Hall Of Famer and Oiler legend Mark Messier...the fightin' Moose! After starting with the St. Albert Saints, Mess went on to a prolific career, with 6 Stanley Cups, 2 MVP titles and 15 All-Star Games...but most importantly, a deal with show sponsor Frito-Lay! Hey Messier, quit challenging shinny players to "eat just one," and work towards a true goal: having Doritos bring Colberta to Chedd-monton!

And which MP has the boules to always eat just one? Why, it's none other than Conservative MP Brent Rathgeber, who has served the riding since 2008. Contact MP Rathgeber here to institue a hard-line "hard-T" policy in St. Albert...the only silent T's in Colberta are to be Colbert and Report!
