With great power comes great criticism, and just like our greatest President, George W. Bush, my motives for overtaking Alberta for the Colbert Nation have been called into question. But let me assure you: this operation is about enduring Colbertan Freedom, and has nothing to do with Alberta's vast oil reserves...which were first discovered in 1946, in the subject of our twenty-sixth installment of the CCC's 28-part series, Better Know A- Lberta!
Today's feature is the riding of Edmonton-Leduc: the fightin' The Duc!

Leduc is known for being named perhaps in the most ridiculous fashion in history, maybe only topped by coin flipping or leg wrestling: a settler, building up the telegraph office, decided to name the city not for a powerful figure (the Queen, Stephen Colbert), but rather after the first schmo to walk into the office. Luckily for Leduc, the first man in was Father Hippolyte Leduc...who narrowly defeated Reverend Cornelius Douchebag in a heated footrace.

The riding is also home to Edmonton International Airport, Alberta's second largest airport, and North America's most northerly 24-hour airport. EIA is best known for jetting Edmontonians across the world, to such exciting vacation hotspots as Rainbow Lake (!), Hay River (!) and Tacoma! Hey EIA, how do you expect your residents to get to my studios in New York? You mean they have to connect in Calgary...to fly to Newark!?! Not cool EIA...On Notice!

And finally, Leduc is home to Fort Edmonton Historical Park, Canada's largest living history museum, where you can take in the days of olde, learning about the fur trade, the expansion of farming in the area...and why most Edmontonians abandoned the city and fled to the west coast. Visit an 1840s fur traders post, an 1880s police station, and be sure to grab a delicious non-alcoholic beverage at the 1920s hotel...its still prohibition time, people!

And which MP rules over this historical riding that was nearly named "Hippolyte" over 200 years ago? Why, it's none other than Conservative MP James Rajotte, who has served the riding since 2004. Contact MP Rajotte here to turn Leduc into the landing pad for the thousands who will surely flock to Colberta!
